Flinch and Poke the Box
It sounds like a new boxing move, but both are books I've read recently that may inspire you to do more, to start something and get out of your well-worn rut.
Read Flinch and Poke the Box - they are both cheap or free from Amazon and part of the Domino Project of books. They both present ideas in a short, concise manner that inspire you to think of how you can improve your own situation.
This isn't a review about these books per se, but about doing something, doing something better and "getting out there". For some of you, it comes naturally. For others it may feel like a lot of work.
The world is changing quickly. How you respond and how prepared you are to deal and adapt to those changes are the key. I've been in my own state of flux for the last few years adapting to new roles and responsibilities and feeling like things are little slippery underneath what previously seemed like solid ground.
Paraphrasing Flinch - one needs to be comfortable being slightly uncomfortable most of the time. If you're looking for safety and comfort in life, you may not find it nor want to, for that is where the problems starts. We need to be continually adapting and using an accurate compass to find our bearings. We also need to hold fast to our core principles and values and use them to light our path. Concepts like OODA (Observe, Orient, Decide & Act) are helpful concepts to figure out where you are and what steps to take next.
You can look at life's problems as threats or challenges. The goal is to get out there and improve your life and share what you've learned so you can help others in the process. ATD
